Foreign Affairs: an interview with Sam Robertson

The last time we looked at this topic as a class was because one of our number brought in a Sunday magazine article that explored the world of French women and their openly adulterous husbands.

This time, we were back to news.

Sam Robertson, output editor at Associated Press Television News in London, did a workshop with both the postgraduate (MAMJ) students as well as undergraduate third years (BAMJs) on international reporting.

He showed us a short film made following the chief of Kabul’s police force, and then talked us through elements of the film as well as tips for a career in foreign coverage.

Afterwards, I grabbed a quick word with Sam; where I asked for his advice to aspiring journalists, about his career, and found out about the time he visited Yasser Arafat at his home.
